Marilyn Austin, servant of the Lord and close friend of Jesus, advocate of young people in the Church and beyond, woman of faith and sacrifice, serving for over 18 years, the people of God, and for quite some time, the people of God at Hurlburt Chapel, has a bold vision for a renewal for the families, and troops of the chapel. She's planned a couple of events at Hurlburt Chapel, a small community of Air Force personnel and their families. I finish up at San Destin, and right at the end am whisked away (doesn't that sound cool and like I'm not heavy?) before the end of the Pensacola-Tallahassee conference....I mean, we're talking 37.5
seconds left in the ending video. BAM, Jesse's running. Sprinting even. Marilyn has planned an afternoon session with some high school and junior high school students of the base. DADDY'S BBQ is the suprise guest. HELLO MOMMA! Get to meet Carol, Gracie, Nathan, Stefanie, James, Megan, Nicole, Bobby, Ryan, Mathew, his dad, Mr. Bell (yikes!). Alex from Eglin AFB, brings his Dad, Mom, and three sisters! Dude. Sweet gathering, meal, and conversation. Then off to the condo on the beach, courtesy of Anita and her sweet family. OHMYGOSH! I'm on the beach again. Somebody get me a fishing pole!! A quick nap, freshen up and back over to the base for an evening event. Almost everyone from the afternoon session was there. COOLYISHESS. Met a Chamorro family. (We are all over!) It's a sweet evening with a beautiful community. These families of Air Force Special OPS have lost more family members than any other base. We prayed for an end to the war and the safe return of everyone's families and a healing of the family. Lord have mercy, and grant us peace. I meet with folks right afterwards and share hugs, prayers, and words of love and friendship. Marilyn gives me a rare and special commemorative coin honoring Air Force Special OPS. She tells me that this coin has been discontinued so it's a definite collector's item. I think it's sacred because of who it honors. Special group of people...After the event, Marilyn and I go to dinner where I am attacked by a serious seafood platter of shrimp, scallops, steamed clams, steamed mussels, snow crab, king crab, and other tasty deliciousness. Marilyn drops me off at the condo where the cold and chill have grown drastically. Winter chill in Florida?! Not really. The faith of Marilyn and the community of Hurlburt Chapel has it plenty warmed from the heart and soul.
