It's A Blur

I wake up in hotels and wonder, "Where am I?!" I wake up at home sometimes and wonder, "Where am I?!" St. Ann, Coppell, TX, with Curtis Stephan and Nellie Cruz at the end of August. Spirit of Life Parish in Mandan, North Dakota; St. Elizabeth Seton School, Moline, IA, and St. John Vianney, in Bettendorf, IA; Our Lady of Prompt Succor in Alexandria, LA, with friends Matt Maher and Josh Blakesly...
Corpus Christi Parish in Shiloh, IL; then over to St. Clare parish in Houston, TX; then to St. Mary's at Park City, UT; then to Greenville, SC for Kate; over to Maria Stein, OH, with Greg Comella and friends; then to a tent revival at St. Francis de Sales, in Purcelville, VA; a "tailgate" concert in Jasper, IN, with friend Jack Tunier; over to St. John Neumman, St. Leo, and St. Ann's, all in Lancaster, PA.
There's a great deal of good happening in the world. Happening in the church. There's a great deal more to be done. God is acting in the world....at times we are blazing with faithfulness, with compassion and with truthtelling....at other times, we are forget-full, fear-full, and paddling up the river of denial.
And God is unrelenting with patience for us; hope for us; belief in us. And so we continue to do our best. To bring what we have.
The work continues to be challenging, exciting, frustrating, scary, rewarding, transforming, and exhausting. Thoughts of retirement, thoughts of changing my "job," or at the very least, major pullbacks and more limitations on the travel, fill my mind.
There are those who are suffering more greatly, more continually, and more horrifically. There are others with much greater burdens and I try to keep things in sober perspective. More mindful of the blessings and burdens that are the signs of life, I take a breath.
I pray. I sleep. I discern with Jodi. More prayer. More sleep. More discernment. More breath. It's still a blur, and so, I breathe some more.
"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy burdened, and I will give you rest."
